Minus the remote, I finally ordered a battery grip for my a7! Now I don’t have to worry about hauling extra batteries with me when I’m out and about in Japan! I also ordered a “Tough E mount LT”! For those of you who do not know, the original a7 series had a plastic lens mount. This plastic lens mount let lenses move around and also let in small light leaks. The Tough E mount LT is a metal replacement for this mount and also keeps the lens from moving and also gets rid of the light leak problem. So with all of this stuff I’ll be ready for my trip to Japan!
BTW anyone intrested my setup in Japan is going to be my A7 (with battery grip) with my Nikon Ai-s 50mm f/1.4. I’m also thinking about using the Ai-s 24mm f/2.6 when I’m in Tokyo. Whatever the setup I’m hoping I’ll get some amazing pictures!

Nice! I’m still hesitant about getting one for my A6000, but slowly leaning towards it after every long day of shooting. Need to get the LA-EA4 adapter as well so I can start using some A glass.

I have the black Eneloop rechargeable AAs for my Pentax and they go all day. I got a fancy Lacross charger for them. The new black ones are way better than the white ones.

My battery life isn’t god awful as some a7 owners due to the fact that I use manual focus! I can usually get about 400-500 shots out of a battery if taken at an average pace. I’m looking forward to not having to worry about battery life! But onto that a adaptor, it is just so expensive! I would love to be able to use a tamron 27-75 2.8 on my A7 but for $350 I could go out and buy a nice micro four thirds camera!

Sweet gear.
I haven’t been doing much serious photography lately (thanks, iPhone), but I’m working on fixing up an old Canon AE-1 to go shoot 70s muscle on real film, just for the hell of it.

The problem with the A7 is that the batteries are so small (part of the reason they were able to make the camera so small) and so don’t hold a charge for very long. Also the A7 is constantly feeding video to a rear monitor and the EVF. It’s like a recipe for bad battery life! That being said, do they still have battery grips that use AAs? I though most moved over to using li-po batteries?

The AE-1 is a beautiful camera! Next to the Nikon FM2 I think it’s the best looking camera ever made! Also if you’re looking for cheap film check this place out. http://www.freestylephoto.biz/category/1-Fil…

You’re headed to Tokyo? Me too, next month! When do you go, and have you been before?

When I was in Japan I was so tempted to buy a A7 because of full frame goodness. Crop in my APS-C camera is quite bad, so I wanted to buy a Full frame to use the FD Canon lens I have.
When you’re in Japan you should go to Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara. That place is amazing, specially the camera floor. If you’re taking a Film camera with you you can get your film developed there in 1 hour.

I’m going to several places with a group of people. I would of prefered to do it solosolo, but you know can’t complain about a free trip to Japan. I’m going to Osaka, Kyoto, and then Tokyo. I’m flying into Osaka on October the 6th and I think I’ll be in Tokyo on the 10th.

I’m curious how those meike/neewar knock offs actually hold up, so once you get it, fill us in.
Also, regarding the adaptor, they go on sale fairly often for around 279 up here in canukistan, so just have to keep your eyes peeled (henry’s seems to have very regular sony sales).

Yeah sure! I probobly won’t give any solid answer on it until I’ve had it for a month and used it quite a bit.
Also I’m holding off on any adaptor purchase before I see what the new “Saker Falcon EF Adaptor” can do. It promises to provide phase detect AF to original A7 cameras! However it was just released so no one has their copy yet.

That looks pretty cool! I only have sony/minolta lenses, so the ea4 works for me. but if there was an A-E mount like this, it would be cool not to have the delicate mirror in the ea4, as well has having more than the most basic AF points.
